Our Testimony

From brokenness to blessing

Before the ministry, there were two broken lives that God chose to rebuild. This is where it began.

I was born and raised in Goa, India, in a Roman Catholic background. My early life was marked by trauma, instability, and personal struggle. By my teenage years, I found myself battling addiction, homelessness, and a deep sense of hopelessness.

At the age of 19, during a Christian meeting, I had a powerful encounter with God that became the turning point of my life. I did not believe in God at that time. I chose to sit at the back and made fun of everything happening. Suddenly, a man sitting in front of me turned around, looked at me, and said with conviction, "Brother, God is going to change your life."

I responded, "I am the master of my life. No one can change me." But then I thought to myself, if God really exists, let me give Him a chance. And I said, "God, if You exist, I challenge You. Change me and show me."

In that moment, my life changed. Suddenly, I began to cry. There was no one preaching. Yet before my eyes, I could see all the wrong I had done. All I could say was, "Lord, I am sorry. Jesus, I am sorry." That was the beginning - an encounter that led me into repentance, surrender, and a personal revelation of Jesus Christ.

Following this experience, I devoted myself completely to seeking God through prayer and the study of Scripture. During this time, God began to shape my calling, heal my wounds, and use me despite my weaknesses, including a severe stutter that once limited my confidence.

Through small house meetings, I stepped out in obedience. Many encountered the Lord in a personal way. As I continued to yield to the Holy Spirit, He trained me in prayer, healing, deliverance, and complete dependence on Him.

As I stepped out as an evangelist, I was often invited to hospitals to pray for the sick. I witnessed the Lord heal and restore many. One moment that stands out was a young man with a fractured neck. As I obeyed the prompting of the Holy Spirit and prayed in Jesus' name, he was instantly healed.

In 2004, God opened doors to reach other parts of India. We began training pastors to rightly divide the Word and held outreach meetings in villages and remote areas. God moved powerfully.

In 2010, Awake Ministries was formally established in Goa with a clear mandate: to awaken the Church from spiritual slumber and lead people into a deeper walk with God.

In 2017, the Lord led us to begin outreach in the United Kingdom, particularly in Hounslow and Wembley. In 2025, the Lord stirred us again to continue the work in the UK. We resumed monthly meetings and began trusting God for new church plants and greater fruit.

The journey over the last 30 years has not always been smooth, but the Lord lifted me and restored my heart. He taught me a vital lesson: gifts may attract people, but it is fruit that sustains them.

Walking with God is truly an adventure. As we continue to seek the Lord and yield completely to Him, we believe we will see Him move, establish His work, and provide every need.

I met the Lord in 1998, at the age of 20. I was born and raised in a Hindu family, but my life during those years was deeply broken. I grew up feeling rejected, believing that my parents loved my sister and brother more than me. This created constant conflict at home, and the atmosphere was filled with strife and pain.

There were moments when the heaviness became unbearable. I even contemplated ending my life, and once attempted suicide by consuming expired tablets, hoping it would put an end to my misery. Today, when I look back, I realise that even then God's hand was protecting me because He had a greater plan for my life.

On 14 February 1998, a friend invited me to a Christian service. I knew nothing about the Bible or the message being preached, and I barely remember what the preacher was saying. But during that meeting, something began to happen in my heart. God touched me deeply, and in that moment I received a revelation: Jesus died for me.

Right there, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. From that day onwards, my life began to transform in an amazing way. The Lord healed my heart, gave me peace, and started restoring every broken area of my life.

Soon after my salvation, God led me to make changes within my family. What was once full of conflict slowly became a place of restoration, healing, and renewed relationships.

As I continued to walk with the Lord, I grew in my faith, spending more time in prayer and studying the Word of God. In time, God brought Michael into my life, a man already serving the Lord full-time in ministry. God united our lives, and after our marriage, He led me to leave my job as an accountant so that I could serve Him wholeheartedly alongside my husband.

The Lord not only saved me. He rebuilt my life, my calling, and my family from the ground up.

I give God all the honour and praise.

The God who brought you out of darkness, will also lead you to abundant life.
